Home Performance Assessment

A comprehensive assessment of your house done in accordance with Building Performance Institute (BPI) Standards.

1. The Home Performance Assessment identifies the most effective opportunities for enhancing overall building performance. We follow a house-as-a-system protocol established by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) in both the assessment and remediation of your home.

Grab a flashlight and a note pad; together we will learn how to make your home more comfortable, healthier, and energy efficient. We assess:

  • Thermal envelope performance and insulation effectiveness using an infrared camera and a detailed visual inspection.
  • Air leakage rate and air barrier flaws with a blower door(s)
  • Ventilation and indoor air quality
  • Health and safety of your heating system: CO monitoring, combustion back-drafting, gas leakage
  • Building durability issues relating to moisture, ice damming, and structural rot

2. Your report is complete with findings and recommendations for improvement. It is the beginning of an Energy Smart Plan:

  • Detailed analysis in clear language defining the issues
  • Prioritized recommendations for repairing building flaws
  • Supporting digital and infrared images
  • Identification of utility and Federal rebates/incentives

3. Your proposal is generated after a follow up review of the report. It details the prioritized building performance improvement measures with cost estimates. As an Energy Smart Plan, the work-scope  is designed to support your future goals for improvement.

  • Cost estimates for selected improvement measures
  • A phased work-scope to meet your time and budget needs
